Why Should We Use Renewable Energy Instead Of Fossil Fuels?
At present, the vast majority of the world’s energy resources come from the burning and manipulation of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels include oil and coal; essentially, generating power and electricity non-renewable resources.
Oil rigs dotting the landscape are a familiar sight to most of us. Coal mines have been around even longer. Currently, oil and coal supply most of the world’s energy and electricity.
However, there is a problem. These are fossil fuels, and they are non-renewable and their supply is dwindling. While it may sound like scare mongering, scientists reported recently that oil reserves will be depleted within 25 to 30 years. Even though coal supplies are still available, the mining is dangerous and costly. It’s also one of the dirtiest burning fuels known.
Therefore, the search for renewable and sustainable energy has become pressing. Various options have been presented, most of which capitalize on the free natural resources of the planet we live on.
Wind and solar power are increasingly recognized as logical fossil fuel alternatives. Perhaps not as well developed, water power and even tidal power are also considered viable alternatives.
Whichever method is chosen as the way forward for energy development, it needs to be both viable and sustainable in order to meet the world’s increasing demand for energy.
Here’s a thought. Why choose just one? Why not develop them all… so why not make all of the alternative energy resources available so consumers around the world can choose which renewable energy source best meets their needs!
