Can You And I Have Any Effect On The Development Of Alternative Energy?
It’s no longer speculation. The world needs to develop economical and environmentally friendly alternatives to fossil fuels. Our world is at a crossroads. We are learning that there is now less of a supply of fossil fuels than we once thought.
In order that we can move towards the future with a modicum of environmental security, it is now clear that we have to consider all alternatives.
Even though governments are looking into alternative energy sources, we all know from past expierience that progress at a government level moves slowly. Relying on anything happening quickly requires us to Read the rest of this entry »

Why Should We Use Renewable Energy Instead Of Fossil Fuels?
At present, the vast majority of the world’s energy resources come from the burning and manipulation of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels include oil and coal; essentially, generating power and electricity non-renewable resources.
Oil rigs dotting the landscape are a familiar sight to most of us. Coal mines have been around even longer. Currently, oil and coal supply most of the world’s energy and electricity.
However, there is a problem. These are fossil fuels, and they are non-renewable and their supply is dwindling. While it may sound like scare mongering, scientists reported recently that oil reserves will be depleted within Read the rest of this entry »

Solar Power Can Reduce Your Utility Bills and Help Save The Environment
The marketing concept for solar generated energy makes the vast majority of advertising executives salivate.
First… the significance of solar energy use to the environment is undeniable. With fossil fuels like coal and oil set to run out within 25 to 30 years, the search for and application of renewable energy sources have taken on a new urgency.
Research and development is centered on renewable, naturally replenished energy sources. One of the most popular and widely discussed resources is solar power.
Solar power will never be able to meet all of the world’s energy needs. No single energy source will. However, Read the rest of this entry »

What Are Onshore Wind Farms?
Essentially, a cluster of 2 or more wind turbines constitutes a wind farm. Those located on land are called onshore wind farms. Most contain 20 to 100 turbines. Instead of generating electricity individually, the energy from each of them is transmitted to a single large electric generator. Each wind turbine is anchored securely into the ground, usually in an open field or high on a hillside.
Although onshore wind farms remain the most common, wind farms located offshore wind, in the air, or near water are now coming into successful production.
The reason for the onshore wind farm’s popularity is that they are easier to Read the rest of this entry »

Do Solar Panels Work On Overcast Days?
Can solar panels collect solar energy on cloudy or even completely overcast days?
It’s easy to assume that a solar panel requires sunlight and/or its heat in order to function. In other words, if sunlight doesn’t hit the solar panels, they won’t work.
Actually, while solar panels flourish in bright sunlight, they also function well on days that are overcast or cold. Think about it for a minute. Read the rest of this entry »
